Welcome to Maddy’s world!

Hi, I’m Maddy and I’m ten years old. I love being outside and like to climb trees and read in them, reading is my hobby! I read all sorts but my favorite book is War Horse by Michael Morpurgo and I also enjoy reading Jaqueline Wilson. I am passionate about nature and love foraging for food and medicines, the great thing about this is that you get to know the plants and appreciate that they’re important.  I love listening to music as well and my favourite modern singers are Ed Sheeran and James Arthur, but I also like Queen, Status Quo and I quite like Black Sabbath too. I went to school for six years and now I’m home educated. It’s fun, you meet cool people and you mostly learn through play. It’s a lot more enjoyable too.

I’m going to write my blog every week and it will be like a diary of my journey with learning and traveling. I will write about what I get up to with home ed and my travel plans, and share my thoughts and feelings about life in general.

This year we are going traveling around the UK and over to France so we can settle. We want to make a home that is eco-friendly and make our own electricity and grow our own food, we chose France because they have better weather for those things and the land and nature is stunning. We go biking, hiking and wild camping whenever we have time and I love it! It’s one of the best feelings because you’re not cooped up and have loads of countryside where you can see and do almost anything. Another reason we’re travelling is because we would like to learn, we would like to learn about nature and the environment, growing food, people and different lifestyles and cultures. I think it’s important to learn things like nature and culture whilst traveling because if you read it off the internet or in books you can’t actually feel the things that your learning. You can’t see it with your own eyes, and I think that’s really important too. We can’t wait to see all the cool places and spend quality time as a family as well.

By planning and getting ready for our journey I have already learned that there is a lot more out there to see and do, that the way we live could be better for us and the Earth, that you don’t need lots of money or stuff to survive and live a happy life, and that happiness isn’t things or places it’s love and people. I’ve also learned that I’m braver than I thought I was and that by setting my mind to it and believing in myself I can do anything I want to.

I hope you enjoyed my introduction to my blog. See you this time next week!
